On April 27th Pegasus Beijing on behalf of the WBCSD, a global association of 200 companies dealing exclusively with business and sustainable development, launched a global report ¡°Transforming the Market: Energy Efficiency in Buildings¡± in China.
The reports¡¯ goal is to understand the current state of energy demand in buildings and evaluate how the demand can be reduced. The concluding report makes six principle recommendations which include strengthening building codes and energy labeling for increased transparency, and using subsidies and price signals to incentivize energy-efficient investments.
Mr. George David, Chairman of United Technologies Corporation (UTC) represented the WBCSD to unveil the results and offer his insights into the key findings at a media event held in Beijing.
To strengthen the news value of the report Pegasus leveraged discussions emanating from the annual session of the National People¡¯s Congress where the government voiced support for energy efficiency in three key areas of industry, transportation and construction. The news also dovetailed a recent international conference on Green Buildings and Energy Efficient Technologies in Beijing sponsored by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.
To drive further interest in on the report, the Pegasus team helped the WBCSD gain coverage with Chinese media and engaged with NGOs that focused on green buildings and environmental protection as well as CSR.
Special thanks go to project leader Heidi Wang and her team comprised of Toni Wang, Shina Yu, Roger Zhang and Alfred Liao.
