On July 31st 2006, the new president of Air New Zealand, Rob Fyfe, declared in Shanghai that one of Asia's most important flights— Auckland to Shanghai , would be underway soon.

Air New Zealand is the biggest aviation company in New Zealand , and its' biggest aviation base is in Auckland . It is ranked 36 th in terms of international aviation companies. The company always offers specials promotions and services that give it a stable status in the airline industry. Faced with so many strong adversaries, Mr Fyfe said “We have our own special advantage --- our size. In the airline industry, our small size means we have the ability to make adjustments much quicker than bigger companies.

With the rapid development of China 's economy, the Asian region has attracted much attention from the international community. In addition, Shanghai , as the central international finance center, has an important function. Air New Zealand recognized this point and made their move.

Air New Zealand not only set up the new direct flight, but also strengthened the company's business and expanded its size. ANZ's amiable president said “I will try my best to make Air New Zealand a unique image ambassador of New Zealand .” Mr Fyfe believes that the airline industry must take people as its root; and he will convey this concept to every employee.
