Director of the Yale World Fellows Program visits China

(June 21 st , 2006, Beijing ) When China 's President Hu Jintao visited Yale University in the spring he said, ˇ°If I could turn back time, I would like to be a student here.ˇ± Since his visit, Yale University has continued to develop their relations with China . From June 14 th until June 23 rd , the Director of the Yale World Fellows Program will visit China . The purpose of his trip is to seek nominations for the upcoming 2007 Yale World Fellows Program. On June 21 st , a luncheon was held at the St. Regis Hotel in Beijing that attracted much attention from both the government and business sector.

Pegasus Communications Ltd was in charge of the invitations, media relations and overall organization of the event. More than 20 media reps attended including reporters from China Daily News , Economy Daily News and China News Weekly . The Yale World Fellows Program promotes communication between global leaders in an excellent educational environment. Pegasus played an important role in publicizing this program.

The Yale World Fellows program was initiated in 2002 by the President of Yale University, Richard Levin. The program aims to recruit talented young leaders from all over the world age 30 to 50 years old. Through this program President Levin hopes to promote communication and understanding within a global network. The program accepts 18 people to study for four months at Yale. The program includes lectures by famous professors and seminar classes with subjects ranging from environmental issues to poverty alleviation. World Fellows also travel to New York and Washington to attend special events and meet leaders in the fields of politics, business, media and government.

Dan Esty, the Director of the Yale World Fellows Program, Rui Chenggang, CCTV's anchorman and a 2006 Yale World Fellow as well as Ma Jun, an environmental specialist named one of Time Magazine's ˇ°100 most influential peopleˇ± and also a 2004 Yale World Fellow, attended the luncheon. They all spoke about the benefits of creating such a network of global leaders.

Yale University is famous for its long history, particularly its teaching style and academic accomplishments. China President Hu Jintao noted, ˇ°For 300 years Yale University has produced outstanding talent including 20 Nobel Prize winners and five American Presidents.ˇ± President Hu praised Yale's accomplishments and hopes the University will continue to contribute not only to American society but also to worldwide progress. Yale is making great efforts through programs such as the World Fellows.
